SUMMARY:The war is over\, long live peace!
DESCRIPTION:The year 1945 is one of the most important turning points in both world and Slovenian history\, which still resonates in our collective consciousness eighty years later\, evoking a wide range of emotions and feelings\, from pride and gratitude to pain and trauma. The victory over Nazi-fascism demanded immense sacrifices and suffering\, preserved Slovenian national identity\, strengthened and elevated national (self)awareness\, and brought relief\, peace\, and freedom to the majority of the population. At the same time\, it was followed by a merciless reckoning with the defeated\, collaborators with the occupiers\, members of the German minority\, and other actual or merely presumed opponents of the revolutionary communist regime\, which sought to build a new society and a new man from the ruins of the old world. This exhibition offers a concise presentation from a historical and museological perspective of the complexities of the events of 1945 in Celje and the Celje region. However\, this cannot be explained or understood without knowledge of and consideration for the broader context of the war and occupation. \n  \nCheck the exhibition texts \nRoom 1 \nCHRONOLOGY \nDEFEAT \nATROCITY \nATROCITY_side panel \nRUINS \nASHES OF HELL \nASHES OF HELL_side pane \nRoom 2 \nRETREAT \nVICTORY \nVICTORY_side panel \nFREEDOM \nREPATRIATION \nRoom 3 \nREVENGE \nREVENGE_side panel \nREGIME \nRECOVERY \nRoom 4 \nVICTIMS \nCHILDREN
