THE 27th INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR ARTWORKS MADE BY CHILDREN, ENTITLED “MIRROR ME”

Museum of Recent History Celje invites all children aged 6 to 12 to co-create Herman’s Gallery. This collection is co-created by children from all over the world and is supplemented every year with works of art on a new theme. The title of this year’s call is “MIRROR ME”.

Cooperation instructions

Each person is unique, each different, each exceptional. If we are respectful to each other, can this human diversity colour our planet even more vibrantly, joyfully and kindly. And you are also exceptional, because there is no one like you in the whole world. Draw or paint yourself as you see yourself in the mirror.

You can choose your favourite colouring media; pencils, colour pencils, watercolours, distempers, inks, collage or print. The paper shouldn’t be bigger than size A3 (300×420 mm).

Each child can contribute one piece of art.

The received artworks which will correspond to the topic and will be properly equipped with data form will be classified into two age groups:

6-9 years or 10-12 years

The competition starts on 1 September 2023 and you have time to send your artwork on our address until 31 January 2024.

Award

For each age group we will grant 10 awards and 50 special recognition awards, while every participant will also receive an electronic certificate attesting that they participated in the international competition. The results of the competition will be announced on 1 June 2024, and will be published on the website of the Museum of Recent History Celje. All mentors and parents will be informed about results by e-mail.

All awarded artworks will be exhibited in the Children’s Museum Herman’s Den. If your artwork will be awarded, we will notify you by e-mail. You will receive an electronic diploma, a gift with the motive of Herman the Fox, the mascot of the Children’s Museum “Herman’s Den”, and an illustration of Herman the Fox, made by a Slovenian illustrator Jelka Reichman, with your name on it, which you will be able to print. We will add the winning artworks to the museum’s collection Herman’s Gallery; they will also be published on the website of the Museum of Recent History Celje.

If you receive a special recognition award, we will send you an electronic diploma and an illustration of Herman the Fox, made by a Slovenian illustrator Jelka Reichman, with your name on it, which you will be able to print out.

The artworks you send us will not be returned. They will be used by the Museum of Recent History Celje for its own exhibitions and publications, and with the purpose of promoting the Children’s Museum Herman’s Den. The winning artworks will be added to the museum collection of Herman’s Gallery.
